Standalone Slideshow
GETTING STARTED:
1. Extract the ZIP file downloaded to your Desktop. This will create a folder with various files inside. It is a
small demo pack.
2. See readme.txt .
3. Double-click to execute the program ("Howsoft Standalone Slideshow").
4. The first slide will show you the most important tips. To see these same tips at any time, type the F1
function key. You can also see the tips by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen to reveal the "Help
and About" flap: then click on the "Tips" icon.
5. Move the mouse to the extreme left, top or right edges of the screen to see other options.
6. To use the Howsoft Standalone Slideshow with your own pictures, just copy the program to the folder
where the pictures are, and execute it (double-click).
If there are a lot of pictures in your folder, there will be a short delay in opening the program: it is busy making
thumbnail images of all your pictures. Even after the program displays the first picture, this process of making
thumbnails might continue for some time, but you can go ahead with your slideshow nevertheless. However,
when you execute the program for a second time, there will be a short delay on opening, but that's all: the
thumbnails have already been made and the program only needs to check their integrity.
Linux
This new slideshow has one great advantage over the old HTML slideshow: it is a
STANDALONE program. This means that when you prepare a presentation and go
around travelling with your slideshow on CD-ROM for example, there is absolutely
no installation or "setup" to perform before you can run the slideshow on another
computer. Just put the CD in the drive, double-click on the slideshow program,
and off you go!
