Welcome to the howsoft IconShow!

Here is another piece of freeware that hopefully is of good use to you!

Like the howsoft SlideShow, the IconShow can be copied to any folder containing icons, and it will display the icons it finds in its own folder. Or if you prefer, you can maintain a single "central" copy and load up any chosen folder of icons for display. Upon running the program, you will be shown the first page of icons available in the program folder. Press F1 for Help right away:

All the necessary tips are shown here, so it remains only to demonstrate one or two aspects. Like the howsoft SlideShow, use of the right or left mousebuttons (anywhere) or the R/L arrow keys causes the display to advance or regress, except in this case where it is a whole page of icons involved rather than a picture:

When you change pages, the page number is shown briefly in red, and, like the SlideShow, the page numbers of the folder are arranged in circular fashion, so that the last page of available icons returns to the first. That is, of course, if you use either the mouse or the R/L arrow keys to change the page number. But you can hop about among the page numbers if you like, as long as the number of icons in your folder does not exceed 9 pages (which would take an awful lot of icons). Just type the page number you want to go to.

If you double-click on an icon, and you have a program installed (e.g. an icon editing program) which is associated to files of the type "ico", then this program will be called by the howsoft IconShow:

On the blue Help screen, if you click on the HD icon to load up icons from the program folder, the program will be restarted and the icons will be shown immediately. However, if you click on the other HD symbol to get your icons from another source, you will be shown the following dialogue:

To help you identify your icons by appearance rather than just by name, you can see a preview of individual icons by selecting them (clicking once on the name) on the right-hand side.

As it says on the Help flap, just type ESC to terminate the program.

That's all.

Happy browsing!
