The
howsoft Webpage Editor ("WebEd") is a great tool for creating short,
simple web pages very quickly. It is a lightweight program that is intended
to be extremely pleasant to work with.
The interface is completely
visual (WYSIWYG) and no knowledge of HTML scripting is required.
An interesting feature
is the editor's ability to export Microsoft-compatible MHT files (where all
webpage data is contained in a single file) for offline use in documents,
Help files, etc. The MHTs produced by WebEd are more complete than those of
Microsoft.
Immediately after installation,
visit the WebEd on-line Help (using the program's Help menu or directly from
http://www.howsoft.com/webed) for brief fundamental tips to get you started.
Many
webpages are made using little itsy-bitsy widgets of pictures and text which
at the initial stage reflect the results of our creative ideas, inspiration
and practicality in mounting them. However, at a later date, particularly
if we wish to clone parts of the page for use in other pages, these little
widgets become inconvenient and it would be better to be able to capture larger
portions of the finished page in the process of reform. For example, portions
of text produced by HTML might later be better incorporated into a picture,
particularly if we wish to avoid text-spacing incompatability between different
types of browser.
The WebCap program facilitates
this process. If you have a complete webpage on the Internet or on your HD,
you can easily display it and capture any portion of it as a picture.
Have
you ever wished you could substitute a coloured area in a picture without
affecting the different hues of the colour or the shading? Well, now you can
do it. Just look at the example on the right.
Note that although the rubber is being used carelessly beyond the border of
the hat, the colours in the background stay as they are.
This simple task is not so "simple" as it may seem, and you will be hard pressed
to find a piece of software that does this conveniently. That is why Rubber
Dub-Dub was written for you.

This
is a combined slideshow and screensaver with optional HTML transitional effects,
using your own pictures. Just copy the program to the folder where your pictures
are, or if you prefer, keep a single copy of the program in the same place
and specify the picture folder for the sequential display.
Since the transitional effects offered are those commonly available in HTML,
you need to have one of the later versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer
appropriately installed to show transitional effects. If the little picture
on the right is currently demonstrating these effects, then your Internet
Explorer is OK. If the transitional effects do not work, you need either to
update your browser or use the HTML Slideshow with the transitional effects
disabled.
There are lots of slideshows/screensavers on the market. However, we think
you might like this very practical version.
Like
the HTML Slideshow above, the Iconshow program will show your icons from the
current folder or from the folder you choose. If you double-click on an icon,
it will be loaded into your default icon editing program. If you have lots
of icons in the same folder, they will be shown on multiple pages.
Another very practical little program.
Try
to imagine the simplest way possible of distributing your pictures to your
family, friends and colleagues. To distribute, you would simply upload the
pictures to your site. The person downloading would simply navigate to this
site as he/she would do when using a browser. Well, that's exactly what you
can do when you use the "PLUS" version of the Howsoft HTML SlideShow. And
what's more, you can watch the slideshow as you are doing the download!
This new PLUS version does everything that the "lite" version above does,
and quite a lot more. Of course, it is more fun if you have broadband.
