Stacks and Utilities
The following stacks and utilities are for free download. The stacks (open source)
can be adapted or the utilities (standalones) used for any purpose whatsoever
(including commercial) as long as it is fully understood that the author

File/Folder/Picture Chooser Widgets for Windows
Windows does not easily provide a picture chooser that can be employed in
Livecode programs. Nor does Livecode possess any kind of native widget for
handling HD tree views. The File/Folder/Picture widgets offered here were
produced with these two needs in mind. The main widget is a picture chooser,
but a matching file/folder chooser has also been provided.
These widgets were more fully developed in Linux first, but now an equivalent
pair has been produced for Windows also. Using INI files, the size, position and
appearance of the widgets can be tailored according to your taste.
The download pack not only contains the two standalone widgets, but also
the stack projects. There is also a DEMO standalone/project stack to show
you clearly how to tailor the widgets (as explained above), how to call them,
and also how to retrieve the path/file information issued by them.

There have been one or two small changes to this latest version of the choosers
for Linux, and a few bug fixes.
Instead of attempting to detect the presence and mounting of CD/DVD or even
diskette drives on the computer, this version simply provides the means to navigate
directly to where the virtual images of all media are stored on the HD. This includes
not only CD/DVD and diskette drives, but also flash drives and external HDs. So the
programmer no longer has to worry about whether such drives are mounted or need
mounting: if they are mounted then they appear within the /media folder, and if not,
then they don't.
BorderIt
If you want to put borders around your pictures as shown in the picture on the right,
then this simple little program will do it for you, as long as the picture sizes do not
exceed the size of the computer screen.
On top of that, if you wish to have a real live demo of how the howsoft Picture Chooser
(see above) works in practice (employing "open folder" and "save file as" functions),
then BorderIt will show you how.
It is worth noting that in Rev 4.6.2, the chooser widgets need to be called in a way that
is slightly different between Windows and Linux.
Drag Pane Division
This demo stack provides a solution for pane dragging, maintaining the mouse drag
icon in the middle of the division.
The idea is that when the operator moves the mouse over the division, the drag icon
appears, and he can then click down on the mouse button and drag the pane to where
he wants it.
Type Accented Characters in Brazilian Portuguese
Typing the Latin characters (with accents) for Brazilian Portuguese is no problem for
LiveCode when using Windows. However, Livecode does not currently support this
adequately for Linux.
This little stack provides a workaround for the entry of accented characters into a
LiveCode data field. It works for example in the ENGLISH version of Ubuntu, using
either a US or Brazilian ABNT keyboard.
CRLF

CRLF converts texts produced in Linux (or Mac) so that they are correctly
displayed in Windows.
